The month is half gone....the Amsterdam is in Japan

The e Amsterdam is in Japan.  Jeff is in the process of posting 3 sets of wonderful pictures.  Don't miss them!

Some of you know that we have had a change in plans.  We will not be going to Atlanta on Monday.  The trip is postponed until everyone is feeling better.  We have decided to leave here on Wednesday the 23rd and drive to San Pedro CA where on Thursday the 24th we will board the Golden Princess for a 4 day  cruise on the west coast.  On the 28th we will head for San Diego where we will stay until November 1st.  The cruise is going to both Ensenada and Santa Barbara.  While in Santa Barbara we will visit Solvang!  We are really excited about it and the idea of totally being waited on is really attractive!

Our friend Lou is out touring, touring, touring.  He took this wonderful picture at Convict Lake in California but I do not know where it is!  Very nice picture!

This is a really cool picture!

Now for the news for the day!  For the next several months we will be sponsoring ......

THE GREAT QUILT GIVE AWAY!  If you would like to be included, post me a note.  As it stands now....if you are a friend of mine or Vicki's , on Facebook....you are in!  !The drawings will start on Friday October the 18th.....you could be the lucky winners!
On Thursday I will post the photo of the quilt!  Remember, they are far from perfect!

Day 21 Sailing into Kobe, Japan (Part 1 of 3)

Yes, 3 blog postings today!!!!  We had a lovely sail into Kobe Harbor this morning, 6 hours early.  The weather was just fantastic.  The first blog posting shows the sail into Kobe and the second two depict our amazing day visiting Nara…

Nara, Japan (Part 2 of 3)

John & I got off the ship at the first opportunity and took the portliner monorail to the Sannomiya Rail Station.  WE bought a ticket direct to Nara and sat back for about 1 hour 45 minutes to reach Nara.  WE visited a number of places in Nara, including the Five storied Pagoda, 3 story pagoda, Sarusawa-Ike Pond, Nara Park and the highlight, the Todaiji Temple with the Daibutsu (Great Buddha).  The entire area was filled with deer, reportably 1200 of them, and very tame.  We couldn’t believe how many people visited there until we realized it was a Japanese holiday…  It was a spectacular day!
